Extended MHD models for black hole accretion

The Event Horizon Telescope will soon produce resolved images of the low accretion rate black holes in the galactic center and M87. These flows are expected to be hot, magnetized, and collisionless, yet are commonly modeled using ideal MHD.  To evaluate the limits of ideal MHD we have formulated, solved, and applied a covariant nonideal (or extended) MHD model.  I will describe the model and results from simulations, as well as the future of modeling Event Horizon Telescope targets.
