Black Holes and the Generalized Uncertainty Principle

The generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) discloses a self-complete characteristic of gravity, namely the possibility of masking any curvature singularity behind an event horizon as a result of matter compression at the Planck scale.  We present recent work in this area, specifically the derivation and properties of a new GUP metric and its thermodynamic characteristics, including the formation of cold remnants.  We also discuss insights on the ultraviolet self-complete nature of the solution.
