The MeerKAT MIGHTEE survey: AGN, star formation, and neutral gas in the SKA era
The MIGHTEE survey is underway with the South African SKA precursor facility MeerKAT. Its micro-Jansky sensitivity can detect strongly star-forming galaxies to z~3, and encompasses enough volume to contain the rare radio AGN to z>5. The commensal spectral line data provide sensitivity to neutral hydrogen to z~0.55, enabling insight into the dynamic gas cycle of galaxies over cosmic time. Coupled with extensive multi-wavelength ancillary data, and including the crucial neutral gas component, MIGHTEE provides a unique perspective on the evolution of galaxies.
