Training and development
At Barts and The London we ensure that our students receive the training opportunities set out by the Research Councils UK. The Doctoral College run PhD induction sessions once per term and there are regular workshops on a variety of topics. Travel Grant for PhD students and Postdocs
This scheme offers help with travel costs for postgraduate research students attending conferences or courses.

Research Fund
The Research Fund is open to all research students in the College and is designed to support travel and other expenses (although not consumables and equipment) related to their doctoral studies. Applications to the Fund will be assessed by a Panel of senior colleagues from across the College .
The deadline for receipt are:
1 October
1 February
21 May
All applications should be submitted in the first instance to the Institute Director of Graduate Studies.

Events
There are regular events for research students, including Junk the Jargon and the annual 3 Minute Thesis contest in which researchers rise to the challenge of presenting their research in an interesting and engaging way in just three minutes. Business Development Office
The Business Development Office works with QMUL academics and researchers to facilitate partnerships with businesses and other external organisations, through a range of mechanisms including collaborative research, contract research and consultancy.
