Profile
I am a PhD candidate in the School of European Languages, Culture and Society (German) at University College London, supervised by Professor Sonu Shamdasani and Dr Martin Liebscher (UCL) and Professor Rüdiger Görner (Queen Mary, University of London). I was Exchange Scholar in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Yale University for the 2017 Fall term, working under the auspices of Professor Kirk Wetters.
My doctoral dissertation explores representations of music and myth from Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy to Romain Rolland’s Jean-Christophe, James Joyce’s Ulysses and Thomas Mann’s Doctor Faustus. My main research interests are: European literary modernism, the relationship between literature and music, myth, Nietzsche’s aesthetics, and archetypal literary criticism.
Teaching
I am currently a Teaching Fellow in the SLLF at QMUL and will be convening and teaching COM/GER5008 German Thought 1: Marx, Nietzsche, Freud for the Autumn semester 2018. Prior to teaching at QMUL I taught on two MA modules at UCL: Madness and Literature (HHUMG001) and Modern Literary Theory (LITCG001).
