Experimental Poetry in Spain Now

4 March 2019

Time: 6:00 - 8:00pm
Speaker: Lola Nieto and Sara Torres
Venue: Film and Drama Studio ArtsTwo Building

Who is the poetic subject (the I) in 21st century poetry being written by Spanish women today?

Who speaks when she speaks?

She who dares to speak swapped the I for a multiplicity of voices.

In this polyphonic poetry event (in Spanish and English), writers Lola Nieto and Sara Torres aim to activate the critical and performative power of ritual (as discussed by Nicole Brossard) whilst presenting, for the first time in the UK, their recently published books: Vozánica (2018) and Phantasmagoria (2019). Visual work by artist Marta Velasco Velasco will accomany the performance.

Followed by a Q&A session led by Professor Omar García.

The event is funded by the QMUL Centre for Poetry.
