QMUL is going to be well represent at the 43rd New Ways of Analyzing Variation conference (NWAV 43) to be held October 23-26, 2014 in Chicago.

Dr Erez Levon will be presenting a paper with a colleague from Leipzig University (Isabelle Buchstaller) entitled “Perception, Cognition and Linguistic Structure: The effect of linguistic modularity and cognitive style on sociolinguistic processing”, and another with various former MA students (Kirsty Allen, Harry Kennard and Chiara Marchetti) and current PhD student (Annette Zhao) , entitled “High Rising Terminals in London: Gender, Ethnicity and Interactional Meaning”

Professor Jenny Cheshire will be presenting a paper with a QM post-doc (Maria Secova) and a colleague from Birkbeck (Penelope Gardner-Chloros), entitled "A Tale of Two Cities: quotatives and other features in London and Paris".
