Levon and Yip at BAAL 2018

Dr Erez Levon is giving a plenary at the annual meeting of the British Association of Applied Linguistics this week. The talk is titled Language, Indexicality and Gender Ideologies: Contextual Effects on the Perceived Credibility of Women, and discusses stereotypes and the reality of using up-talk.

PhD student Adrian Yip is also presenting at this year's BAAL. His poster presentation is titled Exploring gendered representations of professional tennis players in the new media through a corpus-assisted critical discourse analytic methodology. Adrian was also awarded one of four PhD/ECR scholarships to attend BAAL, so congratulations to Adrian!
