Prosody in children and adults

Elaine's research is on prosody, from production, to perception and processing. In this talk she'll give an overview of a few studies she has carried out in mono- an bilingual children, and adults. The talk focusses on studies investigating prosodic boundaries, but she will also briefly delve into how and why prosodic boundaries contribute to rhythm development overall. Even though she is a 'speech person', she has also briefly ventured into reading, to establish whether the same processes that underlie the perception of prosodic boundaries in speech also govern the inner voice we experience while reading.
