Profile

Born in Solihull, in the West Midlands of the UK , Martyn has been a member of the Language Learning teaching team at QMUL since 2001. He has been involved in both English and Spanish language teaching for many years and has a Masters Degree from the Centre of Applied Language Studies (CALS) at the University of Reading . He has worked for International House in London , as a teacher, teacher trainer and Director of Studies, and later in Spain , where he lived for seven years, as School Director. He was Head of Studies and later School Director at Eurocentres in London. As well as his work at QMUL, he is a writer, examiner and language consultant and is author of the Pasos Spanish course for adults and Aventura Spanish for secondary school students. In addition, he has written a wide range of Spanish and English language materials. He is a principal school inspector for EAQUALS (European Association of Quality Language Services) and he is also a Chief Examiner and part of the test development team for London Tests of English (Pearson Language Assessments). He has also worked in a similar role for City and Guilds language examinations.
