Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships 2021

The School of Economics & Finance (SEF) at Queen Mary University of London encourages outstanding postdoctoral scholars to apply to the 2021 round of the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship Scheme.

The School is home to more than 40 research active faculty working in a wide range of research areas, including macroeconomics, microeconomic theory and game theory, applied microeconomics, econometric theory, time series analysis, theoretical and empirical finance, and financial econometrics

Because these Fellowships require an institutional contribution to match that made by the Leverhulme Trust, only a small number of exceptional applications will be supported. Applications should be sent to Alex Nowosiad at by 5pm on 11 January 2021.

Applications must include in a single PDF document:

  • a statement confirming eligibility for the scheme;
  • a proposed start and end date for the award;
  • a 2-page academic CV;
  • the title of your research proposal;
  • a 250-word abstract of your research project;
  • a 250-word statement of past and current research;
  • a 2-page project outline;
  • the name of your QMUL mentor, whose support you should secure in advance of your application

Eligibility: Applicants must not yet have held a full-time permanent academic post in a UK university or comparable UK institution, nor may Fellows hold such a post concurrently with the Early Career Fellowship. All candidates must hold a doctorate or have equivalent research experience by the time they take up the Fellowship. Those who are or have been registered for a doctorate at any time may apply only if they have submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination by 4pm on the closing date of 25 February 2021.

Before submitting an application please read the eligibility and scheme guidance.

Initial enquires can be directed to Alex Nowosiad, Research Manager at or to a prospective mentor.
