Profile

My work focuses on modern and contemporary literature and visual cultures, with particular interests in queer histories, life-writing, feminisms, and the 1980s. My book on queer icon Derek Jarman’s life-writing will be published by Manchester University Press next year. I have taught in the Department of English since 2016-17, where I am currently a Teaching Fellow. Alongside my teaching at Queen Mary, I have a postdoctoral fellowship at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art to support my research into queer activist visual cultures of the 1980s and 90s, and I lecture on MA modules in sexualities and gender studies at UCL. I also work part-time at Wellcome Trust in their Public Engagement team, and I’m a non-executive director of campaigning organisation Stop Funding Hate.
