Queen Mary has a diverse body of students and we welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.
To apply for a place you need to complete Queen Mary's online application process. Further information on that process is available through the College Admissions website.
For further information, please contact the Admissions Administrator (email@example.com; 020 7882 8571).
Most applicants will have an undergraduate degree with a first or good upper second class honours (or the equivalent) in English or such related fields as History, Cultural Studies, and Media Studies. Where a North American marking scheme is used, applicants should have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5.
Promising applicants who do not meet the formal academic criteria but who possess relevant credentials and who can demonstrate their ability to produce written work at Masters level will also be considered. Applicants may be invited to interview or asked to submit examples of written and/or creative work. We welcome applications from mature and non-traditional students. This is usually to help us assess that the programme you have applied for is best-suited to your academic background.
We ask you to provide two academic references, and there is a space on your application form to upload these. If your referees are willing to send you their references, you can upload them directly with your application. If your referees would rather not send you their references, they can send them directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If your referees do decide to send their references themselves, you will still be expected to upload a file in the references section of your application. This can be a simple Word document stating ‘References will be sent separately’.
If you are an alumni of Queen Mary you are eligible for the £1,000 Queen Mary Alumni Loyalty Award. See the Funding a Masters page for further information.
For information on funding available from the College as well as alternative sources of funding, please see the College page on Funding a Masters.
