Dr Deborah Pearson
Drama Teaching Fellow
I'm a playwright and performance maker, born in Canada and based in London. My work has been performed in over 20 countries on 5 continents, and translated into 7 languages. I've been called a "conceptualist" and in this guise I've worked in a variety of forms, from co-directing a play at the Royal Court to writing a site specific libretto in Toronto, to creating a performance installation at Somerset House and Nuit Blanche Brussels. I believe in working with a term like "theatre" in order to play with the expectations that context creates for the audience. My work often challenges dominant narrative structures and forms, and my process tries to re-envisage hierarchical modes of theatre making. I am founder and a co-director of Forest Fringe.
