Tracy Gentles

Director of In Company Collective (ICC) and co-Director of The Sick of the Fringe

Profile

In 2016 I established In Company Collective, working in arts development, collaborating with mid-career artists and activists concerned with raising awareness and discussion around taboo issues, such as, mental health, assisted suicide, sex, race and ageing.

We build resources, contexts and networks, nurturing organisations and arts managers, aiming for systemic change towards a more diverse, care-focused and socially conscientious sector.

Current collaborators include Professor Lois Weaver of QMUL whilst I have worked with a host of recent graduates to facilitate past and current projects.

Work

With over 12 years’ experience working in the arts sector, from 2008-14 Tracy worked as Producer for Cold Ensemble, responsible for their productions Red Ladies (Southbank Centre and Turner Contemporary, 2014); Performing Medicine: The Anatomy Season (collaborating with Wales Millennium Centre and Cardiff University School of Medicine in 2013 and Tate Modern, Sadler’s Wells, Whitechapel Galley and Wellcome Collection in 2011); Zero (commissioners: Brighton Festival/Sadler’s Wells/South East Dance, 2013).

In 2011 Tracy set up TG Projects, providing a flexible framework to host self-initiated projects and collaborations with artists and other partners. This has since evolved into In Company Collective, a new arts development outfit she directs, currently also collaborating with artists Brian Lobel, Split Britches, Liz Carr and Tim Crouch, and leading on The Sick Of The Fringe, a Wellcome Trust initiative aiming to inspire collaborations between arts and science within the context of the Edinburgh Fringe.
