Profile

Kate McGrath is co-founder and co-director of Fuel, a producing organisation catalysing positive change in the world by producing new live performance by inspiring theatre makers across the UK and beyond. Since its inception in 2004, Fuel has produced projects across art forms and across scales, working with artists including Inua Ellams, David Rosenberg, Frauke Requardt, Melly Still, Uninvited Guests, Racheal Ofori, Sound&Fury, David Farr, and Gyre & Gimble. Kate is also a Trustee of the JMK Trust and the Tobacco Factory in Bristol, and Chair of Camden People’s Theatre.

Work

As Co-Director of Fuel, Kate works with Louise to lead the vision of the company, and with the senior team on its strategic planning. Mentoring and training producers is a key part of Kate’s work, as well as leading the team delivering Fuel’s programme. Projects Kate has produced include Metamorphosis (Vesturport/Lyric Hammersmith), Electric Hotel (Requardt & Rosenberg), Kursk and Going Dark (Sound&Fury), Fiction and Ring (David Rosenberg), Jackson’s Way and The Victorian in the Wall (Will Adamsdale), The 14th Tale and An Evening with an Immigrant (Inua Ellams). She is currently producing Barber Shop Chronicles (Inua Ellams, in co-production with the National Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse), The Hartlepool Monkey (Gyre & Gimble), DeadClub (Requardt & Rosenberg, in co-production with The Place), and developing new projects with David Farr and Jon Bausor, Nick Makoha, Racheal Ofori, and Lyndsey Turner. Much of the work Kate is producing at present connects with themes around immigration and integration, feminism, climate change, and capitalism and consumerism.
