Our research is greatly enhanced through collaborations we have forged with other academics, with professional artists, and with members of local, national, and international organisations.
Drama staff collaborate with colleagues at other universities and colleges in the UK, Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
Maria Delgado is co-editor, with Maggie Gale (Manchester University) and Peter Lichtenfels (University of California), of the Manchester University Press series Theatre: Theory/Practice/Performance. She also co-edits, with Aoife Monks (Birkbeck), the Routledge Journal Contemporary Theatre Review.
Jen Harvie and Dan Rebellato (Royal Holloway) are joint editors of Palgrave Macmillan’s large series of small books, Theatre&. Jen also co-edited with Dan a Contemporary Theatre Review special issue on Globalisation and Theatre (16.1, 2006). Jen is co-editing with Keren Zaiontz a special issue of Contemporary Theatre Review on 'The Cultural Politics of the Olympics: Performing Global Britishness' (2013).
Juliet Rufford, together with Robert John Brocklehurst (Loughborough University), produced a 4-minute video-short ‘Scratching BAC’ as part of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space.
is also a co-director of the ArtsCross International Network. Partly funded by the AHRC, the network includes partnerships with Middlesex University, The University of Exeter, Beijing Dance Academy, Taipei National University of the Arts, National University of Singapore, LaSalle College of the Arts (Singapore), University of California Santa Cruz, and Showa University of Music (Japan).
Staff in Drama also work closely with colleagues at Queen Mary. We collaborate with staff from the School of Medicine and Dentistry as part of the Performing Medicine project. Martin Welton co-chaired, with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, an interdisciplinary workshop titled 'The Ends of Audience' in May 2012. Tiffany Watt-Smith is on the steering committee of Queen Mary’s interdisciplinary Centre for the History of the Emotions, and the Centre’s members include Ali Campbell, Bridget Escolme, , Nicholas Ridout, Catherine Silverstone, and . And the recent ‘Peopling the Palace’ project saw and profiling work by Queen Mary’s Drama, Film, Media Arts and Technology, and Geography Departments.

is currently a Director of the Live Art Development Agency.
has worked extensively with the local community. His ‘E-Motion: The Giant Instrument’ project to create a living-map of East London included participants from local schools – the Osmani Primary School and Morpeth Secondary School – and local organisations – including The Drake Project, People First, Powerhouse, and Stepney Green Day Centre.
Paul Heritage is artistic director of People’s Palace Projects, a charity which is based at Queen Mary and seeks to advance the practice and understanding of art for social justice. In recent years, People’s Palace Projects have worked with: the Young Vic, Contact Theatre Manchester, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Southbank Centre, Lawnmowers Theatre Company Newcastle, AfroReggae, Academia Brasileira de Letras, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Sage: Gateshead.
is a co-founder, with Peggy Shaw and Deb Margolin, of Split Britches, the New York and London-based feminist performance company.
