Collaborations/Partnerships

Our research is greatly enhanced by our national and international collaborations and partnerships with academics at other universities, with professional artists, and with organisations in the cultural industries. We are especially proud of our collaborations with partners in the local area.

We support the work of a range of theatre and arts organisations. Our colleagues serve on the boards of Daily Life Ltd (artist Bobby Baker's company), Home Live Art, Live Art Development Agency, and Stepney’s Half Moon Young People’s Theatre.

Paul Heritage is artistic director of People’s Palace Projects, an arts organisation and charity based at Queen Mary that seeks to advance the practice and understanding of art for social justice. In recent years, People’s Palace Projects have worked with: the Young VicContact Theatre ManchesterTheatre Royal Stratford EastSouthbank CentreLawnmowers Theatre Company NewcastleAfroReggaeAcademia Brasileira de Letras, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Sage: Gateshead.

Phakama is an arts organisation that seeks to create daring performances in unusual spaces, unite communities, and bring together young people and diverse communities who otherwise would not have the opportunity to connect. Phakama is based in the Department of Drama at Queen Mary.

Lois Weaver is a co-founder (with Peggy Shaw and Deb Margolin) of Split Britches, the legendary lesbian feminist performance company.
