Transnational Performance

Our research explores performance practices and cultures across the globe.

It documents and analyses emerging and historical practices, interrogates social histories of performance, and critically compares performance cultures. For example, some of it interrogates the global relations that arise between performance cultures as influenced by relationships of postcolonialism and globalization. It includes work on performance, nation, and political and social history in: Brazil (Campbell, Heritage), Canada (Harvie, McKinnie), China (Welton), Italy (Ridout), India (Arora), New Zealand (Silverstone), South Africa (AdebayoArora, Silverstone), and the United States (JohnsonWeaver).
