Queen Mary is proud to have hosted Commonwealth scholars for many years and for Septemebr 2023 entry, Queen Mary, The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and the Windle Trust (NGO) are jointly funding  2 scholarships for Master's study.

Please note due to the combined eligibility requirements of Windle and Commonwealth Scholarships we will only consider applications from candidates resident in Uganda and Kenya who have already been selected by the Windle Trust.

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

    • Be a Commonwealth citizen, refugee, or British protected person
    • Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country, we will only consider applicants from Kenya and Uganda.
    • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2023
    • By August 2023, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard
    • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a developed country
    • Be unable, either yourself or through your family, to pay to study in the UK

How to apply

You must make an application directly with CSC having read all of the instructions on the Shared Scholarship page. Applications will be accepted between 3 November and 13 December 2023.

You must also apply to Queen Mary for admission to the Master's programme as well as making an application for the scholarship. You should do this before you apply for the scholarship as those with an unconditional offer are more likely to be shortlisted for the award.  You must apply to QMUL by February 1 to be considered for this Scholarship.
