This module is designed to introduce first year students to fundamental principles underpinning physical and inorganic chemistry. The first section of the module will give detailed consideration to theories of atomic structure, and the nature of bonding in molecules and inorganic complexes. The second section of the module focusses on factors controlling chemical reactivity - specifically chemical thermodynamics, reaction equilibria, and the kinetics of chemical processes.
