Module cannot be taken with SBC324 (Human and Medical Genetics). Prerequisites: Biochemistry background required. An introduction to a number of human diseases, with an emphasis on how these diseases are characterised at the molecular level. The module will include a study of the processes associated with the following amyloid formation in Mad Cow and Alzheimer's diseases, Bactorial Invasion, Flu, TB, Heart Disease, flavin deficiency and the role of metals in disease.
