School of Biological and Chemical Sciences

Course structure

The modules listed below for the Biomedical Sciences BSc are based upon both the Queen Mary Biomedical Sciences programme and the current Nanchang preclinical curriculum. Modules are assigned to Queen Mary and Nanchang for delivery. Where Queen Mary is responsible for modules it will be responsible for the delivery of lectures and 'non-lecture/discussion' teaching, and responsible for the design and supervision of the laboratory based practical teaching.

Students on the Joint programme are also awarded a degree in Clinical Biomedicine, with the clinical teaching taking place mainly in semesters 7 and 8.

The credits listed for each module are based upon the Nanchang credit system, which differs from the Queen Mary/UK system. Most modules are 5.5 credits which equals 15 credits at Queen Mary.

The students will take additional modules that are compulsory (mainly military training and political courses), but these will not be included when considering the Queen Mary University of London degree. It has been agreed that all Queen Mary modules will be approved via Queen Mary quality assurance procedures, and all Nanchang modules via their quality assurance procedures, as is the case for BUPT programmes.
