As a student on our biology or chemistry SEFP, you are guaranteed a place on a biological or chemical sciences degree programme at QMUL without having to re-apply through UCAS, provided you meet the academic criteria for progression. Details of which programmes you can progress onto from our different SEFP options are listed below.
|SEFP programme||Degrees you can progress onto|
Biological Sciences (4 year) CCX1
Biological Sciences (5 year) CCY1
Chemistry (4 year) FFX1
Chemistry (5 year) FFY1
In most cases, the minimum requirement is to pass 7 modules (which must include the mandatory biology/chemistry modules, as well as whichever English language module you take), with an overall average of 60%, though some of our more popular programmes have higher requirements. You must also meet the progression requirements as specified in your Student Handbook, which you will receive at the start of the programme.
Only in very exceptional cases is it possible to progress onto a degree programme in a different field of science and engineering, i.e. not in the field of biological or chemical sciences, so it is very important to choose the right foundation programme for you. You can find full details of all foundation programmes on the foundation website.
Students on our ISEFP are guaranteed a place on a relevant undergraduate degree programme at QMUL, subject to meeting the progression requirements and submitting a UCAS application.
In order to progress from the ISEFP to a degree programme you must pass all of your core modules and submit a UCAS application. Go to the ISEFP website to find full details of progression requirements.
Students on our ISEFP can use the foundation certificate to progress onto degree programmes at other UK or overseas universities. Your academic advisor will help you find the right degree programme and advise on how to apply to other universities. Some American or Canadian universities will accept students who have completed our ISEFP.
