Project title: The design and engineering of 3D protein encapsulations using modular protein domains.

Summary: Using Repeat Proteins To Create a Toolkit for Synthetic Biology
In this project we aim to design a toolkit of protein modules that can be mixed and matched to build a wide range of novel functional nanostructures/biomaterials. The main component of the toolkit will be designable motifs called repeat proteins. These possess ideal traits for our toolkit - they fold from linked modular 20-40 residue motifs into predictable stacked arrays of controllable size/architecture and they have designable binding activity. Thus, this project will develop repeat proteins as new petide based synthetic components for synthetic biology.
