Project title: The regulation of granule neural progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation in the developing cerebellum

Summary: The granule progenitor cells in the external granule layer of the developing cerebellum will be studied to identify the underlying molecular mechanisms and genetics of neural proliferation and differentiation during cerebellar neurogenesis. Transcription factors that control the specification and differentiation in the cerebellum have been well characterised; however the signals that coordinate these processes remain poorly understood. It is therefore aim of this project to identify key regulatory signals and the developmental stages they are active during cerebellar neurogenesis using the chick embryo as a model system.
