Project title: Role of CikA in directional light perception in a cyanobacterium

Summary: Synechococcus CikA protein is a key component of its circadian oscillator that provides environmental input. It was found that the Synechocystis CikA homolog must be an essential link in signal transduction from the photosynthetic electron transport chain to the motility apparatus recently. We try to figure out which domain of CikA influences either phototaxis or the circadian clock in Synechocystis, including its expression, interactions and function.
