Project title: Computational Modelling of the Molecular Processes at the Heart of Adaptable Natural Light-Harvesting

Summary: I am interested in the role of Xanthophylls in light harvesting systems, primarily for their role in the photo-protective mechanism. To Investigate this role I am modelling various important interactions between Xanthophylls and Chlorophylls in their protein cages. I will use these to build an all atom model of the the Photo-System-II Super-Complex. In conjunction with this model, I hope to use a variety of techniques, including Transition Density Cubed calculations and Molecular Dynamics, to investigate the Molecular switch between the quenched and unquenched states.
