Research Interests:

My research is involved in investigating individual differences that may be predictive of Inattentional Blindness. Inattentional Blindness frequently occurs when we are engaged in a resource consuming primary task.  The consequences of this 'blindness' means that we frequently fail to notice highly salient stimuli that are presented directly within our field of vision. We have looked at a number of possible contributory factors, including working memory capacity; age; training effects and different eye movement patterns. We are currently researching differences in the ability to detect task relevant vs task irrelevant unexpected events.
