Project title: Smart molecular imprinted polymers for the therapeutic monitoring of anti-cancer drugs

Summary: To develop novel imprinted nanomaterials with fluorescent and/or colourmetric properties and high molecular recognition characteristics to be used in sensors for therapeutic drug monitoring in chemotherapy patients. The objectives will be to firstly study molecular interactions between drug 'template' molecules and functional monomers. Secondly, site specific nanoparticles will be sythesised and characterised and thirdly, scaling up of nanomaterials synthesis for the preparation of sensor interfaces for the development of prototypes.
