Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

The School of Biological and Behavioural Chemical Sciences (SBBS) Mass Spectrometry Laboratory is located in room 1.28 of the Joseph Priestley Building at Queen Mary University of London, Mile End campus. The laboratory is equipped with a number of mass spectrometry platforms to provide a range of analytical tests, including structural analysis of small molecules, protein identification, sequencing of peptides and proteins, lipidomics and metabolomics analysis, and absolute and relative quantification of biomolecules in complex matrices.

The primary mission of the analytical laboratory is to support research groups at QMUL by offering students, post graduate researchers and research investigators, ‘open access’ to a diverse array of analytical instruments, and by providing them more complex analytical services with the benefits of high resolution and sensitivity power instruments such as the Waters Synapt G2Si ESI-qTOF HDMS (watch video below). The service laboratory offers support in sample preparation, development of analytical methods, and strategic planning of analytical work.

The SBBS Mass Spectrometry laboratory actively engages in collaborative research with QMUL researchers, and external academic scientific investigators, in the areas of targeted and untargeted –omics. Funding of work efforts of the SBSC Mass Spectrometry Laboratory can be covered by research grants. Please contact the facility to discuss details and requirements as we are always interested in new collaborations.
