Sonifying zebrafish

Published:

An interdisciplinary group of research scientists including Dr Rachel Ashworth from SBCS have developed software to “listen” to cellular signals in embryos. Dr Ashworth’s group is using zebrafish as a model to understand how specific cell types (e.g. muscle) form during embryo development.  Audio experts Dr Mathieu Barthet and Dr Katy Noland and computer scientist Dr William Marsh have adapted techniques used in music signal processing to analyse biological data. This story has been reported on CS4FN and includes the sounds.
