Metabolic charts

The metabolic maps created by Dr D. Nicholson are familiar to generations of biochemists and are a valuable teaching aid. They have been made available on the web, by A. McDonald, as PDF, SVG and GIF files (http://www.tcd.ie/Biochemistry/IUBMB-Nicholson/). The maps will be linked to the Enzyme List so that the user will be able to move from an enzyme on a metabolic pathway map to a specific enzyme entry and vice versa. This will help to place enzyme data in context for the user. Apart from the well-known metabolic "Big chart", and the Inborn Errors of Metabolism chart, there are now 25 mini-maps covering specific areas of metabolism. The copyright for the charts has been vested by Dr Nicholson in IUBMB. Members of the Committee have assisted in the naming of compounds in these charts, which are the only ones to use systematic nomenclature throughout.
