Reaction: ADP + [pyruvate, water dikinase] = AMP + [pyruvate, water dikinase] phosphate
Other name(s): PSRP (ambiguous); PEPS kinase
Systematic name: ADP:[pyruvate, water dikinase] phosphotransferase
Comments: The enzyme from the bacterium Escherichia coli is bifunctional and catalyses both the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of EC 126.96.36.199, pyruvate, water dikinase. cf. EC 188.8.131.52, ([pyruvate, water dikinase] phosphate) phosphotransferase . The enzyme is specific for a reaction intermediate form of EC 184.108.40.206, where it phosphorylates an active site histidine . It has no activity toward EC 220.127.116.11 pyruvate, phosphate dikinase (cf. EC 18.104.22.168, [pyruvate, phosphate dikinase] kinase).
