Staff returning to work

All staff and postgraduate students

  • All staff/students must complete a health assessment questionnaire and let your line manager/supervisor know if you require an occupational health assessment before returning to work. 

Your Supervisor/Manager should discuss the result of this form with you.

If an Occupational Health (OH) test is needed, the you should not come back to campus until you have taken the test and OH have given the go ahead. If an OH test is needed, the Student/Staff Member should arrange this by emailing qmulstudents@ohworks.co.uk (for Students)/ qmulstaff@ohworks.co.uk (for Staff). After the OH assessment, a return to campus plan which fits in with the OH feedback, should be formed between the Supervisor/Manager and Student/Staff Member. It is the Supervisor’s/Manager’s responsibility to ensure this plan complies with the current local lab/office restrictions.

  • Staff and students must also make sure they read the Institutional Risk Assessment

  • Staff and students must abide by all guidance on signs and instructions by security staff while on campus.

Staff working in the G.E. Fogg Building

All staff and postgraduate students working in the building (including PS staff)

  • Before returning to your building please ensure you have read the guidance for moving around the building in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document, the Local Risk Assessment and have familairised yourself with the Space Map

All staff and postgraduate students working in the labs 

  • Attend the online induction on Mondays or Wednesdays at 10am, then sign and return the Induction Form below.

  • Email your lab manager and building manager (s.j.court@qmul.ac.uk) to state that all the above has been completed, incuding the tasks for all staff. 
  • Discuss with the relevant Lab Manager (where applicable) to confirm what space/equipment you will need access to and how often.
  • If will need to use an office space, the you should contact your Lab Manager to check if this will be possible.

Staff working in the Joseph Priestley Building

All staff and postgraduate students working in the building (including PS staff)

  • Before returning to your building, please read the following guidance for moving around the building in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document and the Risk Assessment

  • Please also read, sign and return the return to work agreement to your manager

  • Email the relevant lab manager and building manager (s.j.court@qmul.ac.uk) to state that all the above has been completed, incuding the tasks for all staff. 
  • Discuss with the relevant Lab Manager (where applicable) to confirm what space/equipment you will need access to and how often.
  • If you will need to use office/lab space, you should contact Phil Duncanson (p.duncanson@qmul.ac.uk) to check if this will be possible

Managers/Supervisors of staff and postgraduate students working in the labs 

  • You should email a short summary including your student/staff member's name, School/Institute/Directorate, the reason why the return is being recommended and the desired location to: 

Frances Healy (PGR)/Natalie Holland (PGT) via this form for postgraduate students. 

The School Manager f.e.marsh@qmul.ac.uk for Staff. Please also provide a statement that the staff member has completed the Individual Risk Assessment Form, read the local risk assessment, the institutional risk assessment and the SOP, completed the mandatory First Aid Laboratory Workers Course, attended the online induction, completed the Return to Campus Security Checklist and emailed the Lab Manager if they need to work in an office.

  • Frances/Natalie or Fiona will then email you once you have departmental approval
  • Email the induction checklist, first aid certificate and security return to campus checklist and approval email to your lab manager who will arrange access for you.
