NeuroPeptide Search

Description and applications

NeuroPeptide Search uses HMM models and common features of neuropeptides to identify neuropeptide homologs and potential novel neuropeptide precursors. Ideally, the input would be transcriptome or protein data since there are no introns to worry about and the signal peptide would be attached to the front of the precursor. Neuropeptide Search has already been successfully used to analyse the transcriptomes of ten different species, resulting in the discovery in numerous novel neuropeptides. Collaboration with M. Elphick.
