This training course will provide EPSRC and STFC funded researchers with information on what support is offered through EPSRC and STFC IAA programmes. Our fixed funding programmes: Flexible Innovation and Large Grants Competition will be further explained, with detailing the IAA application criteria and successful/unsuccessful projects. Part of the training session will be spent on discussing and developing ideas for IAA applications and Q&A.

Queen Mary University of London holds two UKRI (EPSRC and STFC) Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs) awards. These strategic institutional IAA awards support the impact creation and acceleration from the QMUL EPSRC and STFC funded research.

QMUL IAAs have the following objectives:

  • strengthening user engagement
  • strengthening the exchange of knowledge through culture change and capability development, including through the development of skills for KE activity
  • supporting knowledge exchange and commercialisation at early stages of progressing research outputs and outcomes to the point when they would be supported by other funding
  • supporting new, innovative and imaginative approaches to KE and Impact, including processes that enable “fast failure” and appropriate learning
  • supporting activities that enable impact to be achieved in an effective and timely manner, including secondments and people exchange.

More information about the IAA programmes can be found here.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand how the Impact Acceleration Accounts support impact generation from QMUL EPSRC / STFC funded research;
  • Understand what fundable IAA funded projects look like;
  • Develop ideas for IAA funded applications and projects.
