Every year we provide the Home Office with information on the number of procedures and types of animals that we use in our research. Animals that we use at QMUL that are covered by the Home Office regulations are rats, mice, birds and fish.
We also carry out research in fruit flies and bees, which are not covered by the Home Office regulations, and on naked mole rats where research follows Home Office rules but doesn’t involve any regulated procedures.
