Information for staff

What is the SEED Award?

SEED stands for Student Enhanced Engagement and Development.

Our vision is to develop new opportunities for all our students to engage with educational development across QMUL. We will empower students to enhance and co-create their educational experience.

We established the SEED Award to recognise our students’ contribution to shaping education at Queen Mary.

How it works

If you have partnered with your students to work on curriculum enhancement activities, then your students can apply for the SEED Award.

Your student will need to submit a short written statement about the work that they have done, and you will be asked to provide a statement of support.

If successful, they will receive a certificate and the Award will appear on their Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).

Who can take part?

Students of any level of study can apply.

The member of staff endorsing the student’s application should have worked closely with the student. They can be an Academic, Professional Services staff or a Queen Mary Student Union Executive Officer.

How can staff get involved?

  • Provide opportunities for student engagement with curriculum enhancement activities
  • Support, involve, invite, and inspire students interested in this work, guiding them as required
  • Encourage students to apply for a SEED Award
  • Review the student’s  written  reflection  and  recommendations  and  respond  with  feedback  on how educational practices/content have changed as a direct result of student recommendations
  • Provide an  endorsement  which  confirms  the  student’s  individual  contribution  as  outlined  in  their statement
