Mentoring
These courses are offered to support the QMUL Researcher Mentoring Scheme. The Scheme recruits a new cohort of mentors and mentees in October/November of the academic year. When the call opens we will announce this by email, through your School/Institute research managers, and through our newsletters. For any additional information, please visit our Mentoring Scheme page.
- RD-QMA-023 - Researcher Mentoring Training
These training sessions are intended for those involved with QMUL's Postdoctoral Mentoring Scheme in Mode A (1-to-1 mentoring) and B (small group mentoring). Both Mentors and Mentees are invited to attend these sessions. In them, we will provide an overview of the scheme, along with the expectations for both participating mentors and mentees. We will also discuss several approaches to coaching and mentoring, which may prove useful for your sessions together.
- RD-QMA-016 - How to find your own mentor
These training sessions are intended for research staff who wish to find their own offline mentor, either within or beyond the Higher Education (HE) sector. These sessions are also involved with the QMUL Postdoctoral Mentoring Scheme in Mode C (researcher-led mentoring).
In these sessions we will discuss strategies on how you can set about approaching and convincing someone to provide you with mentoring time, to support you in making your next career move. We will also discuss how you might approach people outside the HE sector, along with the expectations for both Group C mentors and mentees participating in our mentoring trial. Finally, we will also discuss several approaches to coaching and mentoring, which may prove useful for your sessions together.
