Happy New Year!

Welcome back to all of you returning from the winter break, and a very warm welcome to new students joining QMUL this semester. We hope you had a relaxing time over the holidays. Now you’re back, you may have noticed some changes that have taken place around campus. The refurbishment of the Mile End Library is now complete, our brand new Graduate Centre opened this week, and the foyer in the Queens’ Building is also being refurbished. We’re always working to improve your experience at Queen Mary – keep an eye out in the next week for further examples of how we have responded to your feedback.

Nominations for the elections are now open. There are lots of roles you can nominate yourself for, including full-time paid positions (salary £24,500 per year) and part-time voluntary positions. More

Queens’ Building foyer refurbishment 
Works are underway to refurbish the foyer/reception area of the Queens’ Building at the Mile End campus. This is a much-needed and welcome enhancement of one of our primary spaces on campus that will have an immediate and positive impact on all staff, students and visitors at QMUL. More.

Pre-pay for meals in The Curve to get 15 per cent discount
The Curve pre-pay meal solution for QMUL students is now live for Semester 2 offering a breakfast and main meal package or main meal package only – the main meal option can be used for either lunch or dinner. More.

Find out if you qualify for the Nighthawk flu study
The flu means fever, coughing and fatigue, but also a chance to help flu research. The Nighthawk clinical research study is looking for volunteers to help test an investigational drug for the treatment of influenza (the flu). If you have the flu, find out if you qualify online.
