Centre of the Cell - Science Fun Day

Inspire Young Minds at the Centre of the Cell Science Fun Day!

QMUL staff and students, here's your opportunity to share your passion for science! Join us for the much-loved Centre of the Cell Science Family Fun Day, a lively event that attracts families and children aged 0–19 for hands-on science-themed fun.

Hosted in the remarkable Neuronpod, participants will offer interactive activities, exciting demonstrations, and memorable experiences, topped off by the engaging STEM Pod Experience. Whether you have an activity that sparks curiosity or an engaging demonstration that educates and entertains, we encourage you to get involved.

It's a wonderful chance to inspire the next generation of young scientists, strengthen QMUL’s community outreach, and showcase your innovative work.

Applications are taken on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of the 1st July. We will try to get back to applicants within a week of receiving their application.

Eligibility:

  1. Applicants must be current staff or students at Queen Mary, with an end date no sooner than 1st of September 2025. We welcome applications from staff and students at all career stages—and this is not used as a criterion in the selection process.
  2. Lead applicants must be the individuals who will be responsible for delivering the project and subsequent reporting. External applicants can apply to the scheme as named co-applicants if collaborating with Queen Mary staff or students on a project.
  3. Funds must be spent by 31 July 2025 (unless it is not possible).

What we’re looking for:

At both of our summer community events, we’re curating a QM stall with public engagement tabletop activities (i.e. an activity, game, craft, demonstration, etc. that can take place on a trestle table). If you have an idea that:

  • Is hands-on, interactive and family-friendly
  • Sparks conversation, curiosity, or learning
  • Engages the public

Then apply and join us!
