Mile End Community Project (MCP) are a film and media charity based in east London that deliver a range of social and educational activities for young people. They specialise in creative learning opportunities via filmmaking, art, and media projects, with the young people themselves shaping the topics with their own interests and passions.
In addition, MCP offer sports activities which have gained popularity in recent years and acts as an important engagement platform. MCP have partnered with QMSU to offer additional football sessions and benefit from a volunteer student coach.
Assan and his fellow co-director Nurull have a strong history of collaborating with Queen Mary, since first working together with academics in the School of Business and English and Drama to support the Cutting East Youth Film Festival, a showcase curated and designed by young people from the surrounding community.
They also work directly with QMUL to support teaching and research, giving guest lectures in Business Management, contributing to action research as research partners and advisory board members, and providing a valued relationship with Schools such as Drama and our Centre for Public Engagement.
