Dear ${Contacts.First Name},

We are sure that you are now planning your student finances; so we would like to assure you that our Advice and Counselling Service is here to help. Please read their guidance to help minimise your financial worries during your studies.

Living in London
If this will be your first time living in London, then you can use our detailed budget planner to find out the cost of living and how much you might need to spend on certain items.

You can adapt the spreadsheet to your own circumstances to create a personal budget plan to help manage your spending. You can also read this guide on useful money saving ideas.

You will be emailed an invoice stating your tuition fee amount, and you can also check your tuition fees online
Opening a UK bank account
When you arrive in the UK, you will probably want to open a bank account. There is information on our website to help you understand how to do this, for example what documents you will need, and what types of accounts are available, as well as important information about banking safely.

Please remember that it can take several days or even weeks to open an account so you are advised to bring enough money with you for the first few weeks. There is information on the UKCISA website about bringing money to the UK.
 Further financial guidance
If you need any guidance about how much money you need to show as part of your Tier 4 immigration application, or what evidence you need to provide, we have detailed guidance on our website ( - only relevant to non-EU students).

There is sadly very little funding available if you have serious financial difficulties during your stay in the UK, other than if you have a short term unexpected financial emergency. However, you will find information on our website about financial options during your studies.

If you find that you need individual advice about your money, you can contact a Welfare Adviser in the Advice and Counselling Service. You can do this before you arrive, and throughout your studies.
Airport collection

We will provide a free airport collection service for all new students arriving at Heathrow Airport on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September.

Coaches will depart from Terminal 3 (Heathrow Airport), and drive directly to QMUL's Mile End campus approximately every two hours on Saturday, and every three hours on Sunday.

You can book your place via this link:
