In this penultimate EU/International student newsletter we would like to build on the theme of the 'budgeting' newsletter by introducing you to the services provided by our Careers and Enterprise team. They are here to help from the first day of your enrolment through to two years after your graduation. Please read on for a rundown of the services and advice they provide. 

Careers services
Here are seven services that you may access once you enrol: 

1. Dedicated careers consultants for one-to-one careers advice

We can provide help with career choices, finding work experience, part-time work, jobs, or further study. Plus, application support, CV checking, and mock interviews. 

2. Over one hundred employer-led events on campus

From workshops, to networking sessions and to fairs we make sure the campus is packed with employers.

Major employers on campus in 2016-17 included:

Accenture, Airbus, Astra Zeneca, BAE Systems, Bloomberg, Burberry, Cancer Research, Capgemini, Clifford Chance, Deloitte, Deutchbank, E.ON, eBay, EDF, EY, Freshfields, GE Aviation, Goldman Sachs, GSK, HM Treasury, HSBC ,IBM, KPMG, Linklaters, Mercedes –AMG, Metropolitan Police, Morgan Stanley, PwC, Rolls Royce, Royal Air Force, Santander, Schroders, Siemens, Sungard, Teach First, TFL, Thales, The Economist, Thomson Reuters, Wellcome Trust

3. Thousands of jobs on QMUL’s job vacancy board

Paid part-time, full-time and internship opportunities as well as volunteering in the UK and internationally.

4. Enterprise support to start your own business

Students have access to training and support if they are interested in developing their own social or commercial enterprises.

In the past, students have received seed funding to start (or grow) a business, and had opportunities to network with mentors, pitch ideas and attend start-up bootcamps.

5. Careers support for QMUL alumni for two years after graduation

Students can continue to access the Careers & Enterprise Centre services for two years after graduation, either in person, by phone or via Skype.

6. International student careers week

We dedicate a week of events to help international students get work in the UK or overseas. We also provide sessions covering visas, as well as understanding the UK and other global job markets.   
7. Specialist information, guides and videos for international students

We have developed specialist information for international students, including country guides for job hunting, videos explaining visa categories, and information regarding how to obtain part-time work or work experience.
