Pre-enrolment and Enrolment

Enrolment with Queen Mary is only eight weeks away!

Below you will find brief information about enrolment at Queen Mary. Detailed information, including links to our comprehensive new student website, will be emailed in mid-August.
 Pre-enrolment and enrolment
1. Pre-enrolment is the first part of the enrolment process. Once pre-enrolment is opened in mid-August, our Admissions Office will email all those who have been accepted to Queen Mary and have had their place confirmed, with details on how to enrol.

All students are required to pre-enrol via the online student records system MySIS.

2. Queen Mary Enrolment

Queen Mary Enrolment is the next stage in the enrolment process and all students, except those studying via distance learning, must attend Queen Mary enrolment.

Queen Mary enrolment will open from the 16 September. If you're eligible to enrol during the weekend of 16 to 18 September*, you will be presented with an online booking facility as soon as you've completed pre-enrolment.

Alternatively, each undergraduate and postgraduate taught programme has an allotted enrolment slot during the week of 19 to 23 September. You will be sent an email detailing your individual slot at the Enrolment Centre nearer the time.

Research Degree (MPhil, PhD and MD (RES)) students will enrol on 26 September.

* Excludes: all research degree students; all distance learning students and students on the A300 (Medicine Direct Entrant), A101 (MBBS GEP), Diploma in Dental Hygiene & Therapy (A900) and A4EC Oral Hygiene and Therapy programmes in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Important notice for international students  (non-EU)
Our Advice and Counselling service will be holding weekly online Immigration workshops to provide guidance and assistance to our incoming International Students.  We strongly recommend you book onto one of these to find out further information regarding the Tier 4 visa application process.
In order to enrol international students must present valid originals of their passport, proof of current immigration permission in the UK and relevant academic documentation during enrolment.

If you are not going to have your original documents during enrolment because you are planning to extend your UK immigration permission by post, then we might not be able to enrol you.

Therefore, you are advised to bring your:
  • original passport
  • proof of current immigration permission in the UK
  • academic qualifications including your English language certificate
as outlined in your CAS to the Student Enquiry Centre (Room CB01, Queens' Building, Mile End campus) before these documents are posted to the Home Office so that we can verify them.
 Existing Queen Mary student information
UK Visa and Immigration guidance requires students who have completed one course and wish to start a new course with the same sponsor to make a new Tier 4 immigration application before they can enrol.

Therefore if you are a current QMUL student e.g.
  • pre-sessional student moving onto main degree course
  • foundation student moving onto main degree course
  • undergraduate student moving onto postgraduate course
  • postgraduate student moving onto research course
AND you currently hold a Tier 4 visa under QMUL sponsor licence (11W8K9Y63), you must make a new visa application for the new course you intend to study to enrol in September 2016.

Ensure that you are able to meet all of the Tier 4 requirements (for example evidence of funds) so that you are ready to make your Tier 4 application as soon as you have your CAS, and before enrolment for your main programme.

You only need to have submitted your online immigration application before enrolment: you do not need to have posted your documents to the UKVI, or received a decision on your application.

You should:

1. Take your original documents (e.g. passport, qualifications) to the Student Enquiry Centre and ask them to make copies, before you post them to UKVI.

2. Print the cover sheet from your online immigration application and take this with you to enrolment

Please refer to the detailed guidance on our website (videos and a written guide) to help you prepare a successful Tier 4 immigration application.
Permission to enrol for international students (non-EU)
All international Queen Mary students must present a valid immigration permission (visa) in order to enrol. If you are not sure whether your current visa will allow you to enrol in September 2016 and study at Queen Mary then please check our guide.

You will find sample immigration scenarios and what documents are required for enrolment.

If you still have questions, please email a copy of your passport and a copy of your current visa to visaverification@qmul.ac.uk

Our Compliance Team will examine your case and confirm what documentation is required for enrolment.
