Research degrees in Physics and Astronomy
The School of Physics and Astronomy welcomes applications from well-qualified and motivated individuals wishing to join one of our research centres as a graduate student. Details about our PhD programmes, research areas and research centres can be found here.
Those applying for astronomy or astrophysics will find the application buttons on the Astronomy and Astrophysics research subject page.
Students accepted for postgraduate study usually have a first, or good upper-second class, honours degree in Mathematics, Physics, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from a British university, or the equivalent from an overseas university. A Master's degree is not necessarily required to enter onto the PhD programme.
For international students, please refer to the International students section or contact the admissions team to find out how your international qualification converts to a UK degree.
