Accessing your Welcome Week
How to Access Your Welcome Week with the School of Politics and International Relations
Welcome Week runs from 14-18 September 2020. It comprises a series of events from the university and student union to help new and existing students orient themselves to university life. All students should participate in these events, which begin with a QMplus training session at 10:00 on 14 September.
Open your browser (Google Chrome is recommended) and visit http://qmplus.qmul.ac.uk. QMplus is Queen Mary’s virtual environment and hosts all of your key course materials.
Click the log in button, and enter your Queen Mary username and password. For new students, these will have been sent to you by email and you will have been invited to change your password. Your QM username is usually three letters followed by five numbers, e.g. xyz12345.
If you have not received your QM username and password or cannot log in, contact the IT Services 24/7 chat.
Once you are logged into QMplus, you should see your “My QMplus dashboard”. If this is not open, you can click the dashboard icon (highlighted below) to open it.
From your dashboard, click “My Modules” on the top left, then scroll down, if necessary, to find “SPIR Welcome Week 2020/21”. Alternatively, you can just click this link. If you cannot access the page after logging in, please contact SPIR’s e-learning officer, Farhana Begum.
You will see several tabs beneath the main banner – SPIR Home, Year 1 Undergraduate, Year 2 Undergraduate, and so on.
Check the SPIR Home tab first. You will find a welcome message from the Head of School, a schedule for all the activities this week, and SPIR’s Student Guide to Blended Learning. Then click on the relevant tab for your year group and start exploring the activities. Just click on any Topic heading to open/ close that topic. They are arranged in chronological order.
