Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships

The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) at Queen Mary University of London invites outstanding applications for the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships. Expressions of interest must be submitted in one document (Word or PDF, using a 12 pt font) to a.dibra@qmul.ac.uk by midday on 13 November 2023.

We welcome expressions of interest from candidates with an outstanding research proposal and an excellent academic and publication track record working in the following areas:

  • International Relations
  • Political theory
  • Comparative politics

Applicants wishing to consider applying for the Early Career Fellowships are encouraged to contact a member of staff in the appropriate area of expertise to act as their mentor ahead of the internal deadline.

We are able to support a limited number of fellowship applications and will offer individual support and feedback in preparing applications to candidates selected to be put forward to the funder following our internal section process. Candidates will be notified in December whether they have been selected to submit an application to the Leverhulme Trust.

For your application, please provide the following in a single Word of PDF document:

  • 2 page academic CV
  • Outline research proposal including title, abstract (100 words), statement of past and current research (250 words) and 2 page (A4) project outline. The project outline should include aims, objectives, methodology and outcome (e.g. publication plans). It should make clear the scope and importance of the proposal. The methodology should be clear and explicit, comprehensible to a non-expert
  • Statement of eligibility: please state in a series of bullet points how you meet the Trust’s eligibility requirements
  • Reason for choosing Queen Mary University of London as the host institution: This should include details of research being conducted in the School which is relevant to your own proposed project and any other additional reason for choosing QMUL School of Politics as your host (150 words max)
  • The name of your proposed mentor at QMUL (please confirm whether they have agreed to provide mentorship)
