As the party manifestos are unveiled this week Professor Tim Bale challenges the cynics who say they don’t matter, in a Comment is Free article for The Guardian. He writes: “There are enough studies around to suggest that parties, knowing that politics is a repeated rather than a one-shot game, take their promises pretty seriously and that, as a result, they actually follow through on the majority of them.”
