Dr Sarah Wolff, What can Europe do to avoid migrant boat tragedies?

After the recent Mediterranean migrant boat tragedy, French newspaper 20 Minutes spoke to Dr Sarah Wolff about the political issues surrounding the disaster. She claims that instead of a migration crisis it is an acute 'crisis of governance within the EU'. “So far, the measures taken are not efficient and Southern European states, who are on the frontline, do not have the means to control. On the other hand Northern European states argue that they also share their part of the 'burden' by taking irregular migrants arriving by airports and overstaying their Schengen visas,” she said.
